Upper Deck, an established sport trading card manufacturer founded in 1988 has recently partnered with Call of Duty esports League to produce a line of esport trading cards. These trading cards will be released to start the 2022 Call of Duty League season, and will be available exclusively on the Upper Deck e-Pack platform.
This is not the first time that Upper Deck has partnered up with an esports league. The company first developed a set of trading cards for the Overwatch League in 2018. These New Call of Duty league cards will start with a collection of ‘Game Dated Moments’ but will expand to more cards later this year. Upper Deck President, Jason Masherah commented regarding this new partnership saying, “The popularity of esports has grown exponentially in recent years, along with the demand for gaming based collectables”.
Daniel Siegel, VP of Consumer Products at Activision released a statement saying “Physical trading cards for Call of Duty League have been a fan request for some time, and we’re excited to deliver with an exceptional partnership with Upper Deck. Fans can now collect actual moments that will become part of Call of Duty League’s history through game dated moments cards, collecting and trading for current and future seasons.” It's always interesting to see the worlds of physical and digital trading cards come together, and esports continues to be a massively attractive activity for young fans.
