Things have been cooking at Reebok with all the recent collaborations they have been involved in. One of the most famous Reebok collaborations from recent history is their partnership with NBA Legend Shaquille O’Neal, who first collaborated with the brand 30 years ago. Reebok announced that they are bringing back the Shaq Attack “OG,” which was re-released last month.
Now Reebok have announced that as part of the shoe’s 30th anniversary celebrations they will be releasing another Shaq Attack in a Los Angeles Lakers colorway to mark Shaquille O’Neal’s eight seasons with the team.
The shoe which comes in a mix of black, purple and gold has black leather uppers with TPU panels of purple and gold on the heel and collar. There is the usual Reebok logo midfoot, “The Pump” branding on the air bladder and the “SHAQ” motifs embroidered on the heels. The shoe is finished with black soles made of carbon fiber torsion plates. This will only be available from Reebok and at select retailers, with the sneaker coming out in the next few weeks and priced at $180.
Shaq is arguably the biggest athlete to have ever worked with Reebok. The shoe brand doesn’t have the same appeal as Nike or Adidas, but they are still a powerful force in culture. With the excuse of Shaq’s 30 year ‘Reebok anniversary,’ perhaps the brand can generate more hype by doubling down on their relationship with the NBA player.
