The Pokemon Company, which manages business for the Pokemon brand, such as making strategic decisions regarding contracts of new game development has recently made the move to buy Millennium Print Group- the company currently handling all printing and packaging of Pokemon cards .
Millennium Print Group has been working with the Pokemon company since the 2 companies partnered in 2015. Regarding the purchase, President of the Pokemon Company International, Kenji Okubo said “By joining forces in a more meaningful way, our goal is to enhance the ways our organizations work together and continue to bring the highest quality Pokemon TCG products to market. Simultaneously, we aim to develop Millennium into an even better, bigger, state-of-the-art version of their already exceptional organization, benefiting not just Pokemon, but all of their customers.”
The terms of the agreement state that Millennium Print Group will continue its daily operation as a “separate, autonomous organization”, while the Pokemon company will provide “investment and industry experience” which will result in improved infrastructure allowing for better supply chain efficiency.
With Pokemon becoming more popular each day, it’s good to see that the company is making investments to ensure fans of the game can get the cards they want without having to worry about manufacturing issues due to an inefficient supply chain. With this purchase, the Pokemon Company will have more control of the manufacturing, which should result in a better overall fan experience.
