On Running, the Swiss sportswear company, announced recently that they are releasing On Cloudprime. The company says this is their most sustainable shoe ever and is the first-ever to be made from carbon emissions. In the past On has partnered with Roger Federer and KITH’s Ronnie Fieg.
The On brand has a long-term goal of creating fossil-free sports products and Cloudprime is their latest product that brings them closer to that goal. The Cloudprime runner's CloudTec midsole is made of CleanCloud materials made from greenhouse emissions which are then turned into quality performance materials.
While the latest On shoe brand's signature Speedboard tote bio-based thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is made of material that helps the runner's initial takeoff, Cloudprime's outsole is made of discarded plastic, making it the first-ever chemically-recycled TPU. Cloudprime and its CleanCloud technologies are confident that the brand can reduce its carbon footprint without comprising its much-praised performance-enhancing capabilities, and to make this possible they have roped in expert help from chemical engineers and material developers at LanzaTech, Technip Energies, and Borealis.
The sneaker isn't available to the public yet, but more details will be released shortly.
