Each day that goes by, we find a new sneaker collab that indicates a footwear brand targeting a new or specific audience. The MLS, Major League Soccer, is one of the fastest growing sports leagues in the US and Austin FC is one of the most successful teams. Austin FC is co-owned by famous actor Matthew McConaughey, has some of the most valuable players, and has sold out every home match.
And now they are partnering with Adidas for a pair of exclusive sneakers. The new shoe comes in the club’s signature black and green colors. There is a custom tongue badge, a gold foil midfoot stamp, and other elements. This makes Austin FC the only MLS team to be part of Adidas’ latest sneaker collaborations with soccer teams. The other teams with Adidas collaborations are all major European clubs.
This new shoe came out at an event in Austin and was presented by award-winning chef Yoshi Okai. You can find the shoe on the MLS or Adidas websites, or at local Austin store Verde Van. Austin FC has done a variety of other collabs and Adidas selecting the team might indicate the brand trying to capture the growing US soccer audience.
