Magic: The Gathering (MTG) Releases its 30th Anniversary Collection

Magic: The Gathering is one of the world’s largest trading card franchises and in honor of their 30th anniversary, parent company Wizards of the Coast is releasing a special 30th Anniversary Edition set of cards.

Almost every card in this new collection matches a counterpart from the MTG Limited Edition Beta, one of the earliest released original collections. This is strictly for collection and not-tournament legal. Each display contains four packs, each with fifteen cards: one basic card in retro frame, one retro frame card, plus 13 cards in modern frame - a rare, 3 uncommons, 7 commons and two basic lands. Each pack also comes with a token. Some of the rare Power 9 cards will return, the Mox Sapphire and Black Lotus.

You can buy this set from November 28 at a price of $999 on the official Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair website. Considering that these 30th Anniversary commemorative editions might become a collector’s item, we look forward to seeing whether a resale market develops for these cards. As MTG continues to grow, perhaps Wizards of the Coast will release even more special editions at future milestones.
