The Ballon d’Or is considered one of the most prestigious awards in the world of soccer, given to a player voted on by a group of sports media industry professionals as the best in the world. We at Neustreet recently wrote about the Ballon d’Or organizers giving NFTs with the gold statues for the first time ever this year. While Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have usually been the winners of the award over the last twelve years, this year’s Ballon d’Or is going to Karim Benzema from Real Madrid.
Benzema has been one of Real Madrid’s best players since joining the Spanish club in 2009, helping lead the team to multiple La Liga championships and most recently winning the UEFA Champions League in 2022. Benzema has also been in a partnership with Adidas for many years, launching several products with the brand and starring in many commercials.
To honor this latest Ballon d’Or win, Adidas is releasing a film called ‘Hand of Gold,’ which references the bandage that Benzema has been wearing on his hand in every game since 2019 and also serves as a biography of Bezema’s career. In addition to the film, Adidas is also launching two limited edition products - a Speedportal X shoe inspired by gold colors and the French flag, and a special Real Madrid jersey with a gold name and number. These commemorative products and memorabilia should be bought quickly by fans of Karim Benzema and treated as collectors items. Adidas has been busy with new collabs or extending existing ones, particularly within the soccer world, which indicates this may be a major focus area for them. Now that Adidas is sponsoring the world’s best soccer player, the brand can continue growing their respect within the sport.
