Johnnie Walker Launches NFTs

Whiskey brand Johnnie Walker has announced their latest project, a limited edition collection of 250 Johnnie Walker Blue Label NFTs.

The brand is partnering with streetwear designer VandyThePink, luxury alcohol NFT marketplace Blockbar, and music company 88Rising, on this venture. NFTs featuring artwork by VandyThePink will be available for purchase from Blockbar on November 22. Each bottle is priced at $355. Once bought, a digital token is sent to the buyer which one can either burn to receive the physical product, or trade on the marketplace. Additionally, as a buyer, you can also vote to choose one winning physical bottle out of five VandyThePink designs. The winning bottle will be revealed in Miami on December 1st. Voters will be gifted a signed commemorative piece.

This is not Johnnie Walker’s first NFT project. They previously released their first NFT project with 48-year-old bottles of Scotch and before that they went into partnership with Vayner3, a Web3 consultancy. With these projects, and potentially more in the pipeline, they seem to be prioritizing their presence within the Web3 space. Recently, we wrote about whiskey brand Jack Daniels filing for NFT-related trademarks, an indication that they too are planning to join the Web3 space. Things are just starting to get exciting for collectors of expensive alcohol as phygital whiskey becomes a reality.
