Apple and A24 are teaming up to produce a documentary based on the life career of NBA star Steph Curry. This content partnership also includes participation from Unanimous Media, Steph Curry’s own production company. Curry has had plenty of success in his basketball career and is widely regarded as one of the best shooters of all time. He has played for the Golden State Warriors since 2009 and has led them to four NBA championships. We recently wrote about him releasing his latest sneaker the Curry Flow X in partnership with Under Armour.
The documentary follows his early life, early career, and the story arc of going from being an overlooked player to becoming an NBA legend. Other career highlights include securing his fourth NBA title with the Warriors and his first NBA Finals MVP award that he received in the 2021–22 season. The documentary will be called ‘Underrated’ and will be available on Apple TV+.
We have seen how documentaries and series can impact the market for a particular sport or athlete. Netflix’s ‘Drive to Survive’ played a major role in the growth of Formula One within the US, which also extended to the interested in Formula One cards. Netflix’s ‘The Last Dance’ also influenced the market for Michael Jordan cards, memorabilia, and shoes. Could this new documentary increase the amount of hype for Steph Curry? Rare Steph Curry cards are already pretty valuable. Let’s see what kind of interest this documentary produces and whether other players, teams, and brands keep pursuing the creation of new content.
