Adidas has released a set of hoodies and puffer jacket NFTs to be worn in virtual worlds.

Adidas Launches Latest Collection of Digital Fashion NFTs

On Wednesday, November 16, Adidas dropped a 16-piece digital fashion capsule in the form of NFTs. All 16 pieces are wearable jackets from their newest “Virtual Gear” category. The collection included hoodies and puffers, some pieces referencing early partners Bored Ape Yacht Club, Gmoney, and Punks Comics. In order to purchase these digital assets, you were either airdropped these Capsule NFTs based on previous ownership of other Adidas NFTs, ownership of related NFTs from partner projects, or you could have purchased the Capsule NFTs from others selling them.

The items in the virtual collection are to be worn by virtual avatars in a variety of immersive experiences. The brand is yet to share the details regarding the full extent of the collection’s wearability, but many are speculating The Sandbox will be one of the first integrated environments since Adidas already owns a virtual plot of land on The Sandbox.

The news of this Adidas launch has come just a few days after Nike announced the launch of its .SWOOSH platform. This shows that this is a highly competitive space where big brands are doing their best to stay relevant. For decades, Adidas and Nike have launched competing sneakers in the physical world. It seems the next battleground for the two brands is the virtual world.
